MFT SUPERVISION: INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: BALI & THAILAND SUMMER 2015

IN SUMMER 2015 we will hold our first international supervision summer internship/trainee-ship for those professionals or students working towards their graduate degree requirement hours or graduates needing to acquire pre-licensing hours.  These will be child hours fulfilling some MFT graduate school programs and BBS of California programs.  For other states please consult your state board or if you are international and already work as a social worker, therapist, artist or healer and want this kind of experience, please contact me.

Bali: Tentative dates:  4 -19 July 2015

EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPY TRAINING IN THAILAND:

A training program for MFT trainees and interns with children who are victims/at-risk for human trafficking

This training program is open to MFT trainees and interns who want to gain experiences with girls in a different culture where are victims or were at-risk for human trafficking.  You will be supervised by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Ali Guida Smith (MFC #48932) and (if needed) able to count child hours towards graduation requirement of MFT licensure.  There will be both individual and group supervision utilizing the expressive arts which will include study in hill tribe and Thai cultures, religion, politics, economy and how it integrally relates to the girls’ lives.  You will also learn about the psychological, cognitive and emotional impacts of trauma and both yoga and expressive arts therapy tools to help clients process trauma through the expressive arts.  You will work both one-on-one and in groups.   Mindfulness training and practice will be an integral element in our work.

COST:   $1350

Non-refundable deposit due by:  March 15

Early bird discount of $100 off due by Feb. 15

BALANCE DUE: MAY 20, 2014

COSTS include:  airport pick up, admin. & site fees for Thai-based organization, EXA training, Thai language intro. class, individual and group supervision, Thai cooking class on organic farm, weekly yoga classes (optional), lunches for the work weeks, transportation costs to and from the site, training materials, snacks and bottled water during work weeks, all arts materials for the therapy work, Sunday market excursion, Temple visits, Elephant poo paper park excursion, meditation class (optional), waterfall hike (optional)

COSTS NOT INCLUDED:  airfare (typically +/-$1000 from SF-BKK and +/-$100 RT from BKK to Chiang Mai), transportation to airport ($5-15 depending on location), Thai visa ($25 for 30 day visa), accommodations (arranged via Ali based on individual budget from approx. $20+/day), breakfasts and dinners. (Travel/evacuation insurance is strongly recommended.)

OPTIONAL COSTS: Elephant camp visit can be arranged if there is interest

 ALI GUIDA SMITH, LMFT, RYT, DMTdip

Ali Guida Smith is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Yoga Teacher and Dance/Movement Therapist who works with youth, families and adults in a range of settings, currently in the Bay Area.  She often integrates expressive arts therapy, yoga, and mindfulness in her work.  She has lived in Thailand, Bali, India, Mexico, Japan, Spain, England, France & Italy and traveled in over 30 countries.  She has a deep passion for social justice encompassing personal and community healing, in particular by helping young girls and women find and express their unique voices through the expressive arts.  IMG_1827
